Five Ways to Say "I Love You" Without Actually Saying It
by Maryam Henein
You want to tell your partner "I love you," but you don't want to say it in so many words. In fact you don't want to use any words at all. Perhaps you aren't ready to say the "L" word even though you feel the sentiment burgeoning in your bosom. Maybe you are simply waiting for him to utter those three words first. Or conceivably, the phrase has lost its potency since you say it with as much frequency as 'how are you?' Either way, there are numerous ways to tell someone how you feel without the use of spoken words. After all, actions speak louder.
The power of touch is invaluable. You men out there, women love to be hugged and caressed. Take her by the hand when you cross the street or kiss and nibble the nape of her neck just because. Give your partner a hand, foot or whole body massage. Or hug your partner just a little longer, just a little harder, with just a little more energy than usual. You can also try hugging them from the opposite direction to surprise them and take their breath away, says Debbie Mandel author of Turn on Your Turn On Your Inner Light: Fitness for Body, Mind and Soul. "This means that you always want to refresh and keep your love alive."
It's The Little Things
As the saying goes, God is in the details. Doing small things says a lot! For instance, draw a big heart on a steamed up mirror in the bathroom, suggests Karen Sherman, an New York-based psychologist and the author of Marriage Magic! Find It, Keep It, Make It Last. Boys, consider putting the seat down. Or put toothpaste on your lover's toothbrush before you go to bed, or fetch him a warm towel from the dryer just as he steps out of the shower. Another great suggestion is to find out when his favorite band is coming to town and get tickets -- even it if is Nine Inch Nails. Doing a chore for the other person - this is one of the easiest ways to say I Love You! Besides, a man who does a little housework is irresistible! Also be willing to stand up and fight for him/her and their beliefs with other people. You're a team, act like one.
Note your love
My former lover used to wake up at the break of dawn to go to work. He'd always leave me a little note addressed to his 'bunny lover' for me to find in the morning. It was a lovely way to start off my day. A little note or poem expressing your love will show your partner how much you care about them, suggests relationship expert Stephany Alexander, creator of "the World's Largest Database Ranking Men" http://www.womansavers.com. Write love messages and leave them throughout the house. Send a naughty text message to spruce up your partner's day. Or hide little notes in their car, in their pockets, or under their pillow. Buy a card or send a letter to them via snail mail. Finally consider writing out 10 reasons why you love them (or feel they are special) on different pieces of paper and spread them all over the house!
They say that 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach,' however this can be equally true for women. Express your love by cooking a surprise dinner and setting the atmosphere with music, candlelight, and flowers. Or help her cook, preparing a meal together can be very sexy. Take her to a fancyshmancy restaurant that you both haven't been to before. If you can, make a mini-break out of it and treat her to a weekend getaway even if it's only in town. Enjoy room service, good dining, indoor swimming, and lots of lovemaking. And by the way, unplug that TV kiddo, 'cause the only thing you should be turning on is her!
Remember to cherish one another because life is short. Relationships are a work in progress, so be patient and don't take each other for granted. Always give it your all and good things will follow. Now, go get 'em tiger!!
