So an update: the new "friend" was a player, but I figured it out beforehand, for once. He ended up texting me all the time and moving way too fast. I think he targets girls he figures are going through breakups. I have had this happen in high school where one of the guys wouldn‘t quit calling me. Just a warning for the other gals, its hugely embarrassing.

I think you need to fly solo for a little while. You just got out of something ugly and maybe you need to be happy with yourself and heal yourself before going into any kind of dating/relationship. You‘ll never heal if you just depend on the next guy.

There are men who prey on vunerable women and they‘re dogs!

Even if you meet someone nice, you need to give yourself some alone time.
