Just wondering how many of you at some point in your career got involved in an office romance outside of your marriage. As a career woman for the past 15 + years, I have seen numerous such instances at different work places and somewhat guilty myself of drifting into such relationships. I know some of us treat these as purely situational and can be of control of such relationships. Although this might be a very controversial topic and I might not have lot of fans for suggesting this topic, as an adult, women-only forum, I hope we can shed some light to the subject..

By "office romance" do you mean flirting etc...Or does this move onto an actual affair?
We spend so much time at work and with co-workers I can understand a flirtation...Sometimes we spend more time at work than home and it‘s bound to happen that you find someone there that you click with.
I think it depends on how far you take it....If it is rated PG and stays that way...I think it‘s harmless.
I don‘t believe all women can keep it PG...It‘s new and fun...and easy to get away with...
I say the second it goes PG-13...It‘s no longer appropriate.

At this point, I think it seems to involve falling for the image of what folks want you to have of them, rather than what they really are all the time. It also may mean you do not have enough of a life outside of work. Gals you need that. Somebody‘s wife knows and honestly just because you know somebody at work, doesn‘t mean crap to me anymore. With guys you always have to be careful.

Office romance would be a no-no even if marriage wasn‘t in question. You simply cannot jeopardize your career (or someone else‘s career) by mixing business with pleasure.
I speak from experience, even though I‘m not a married woman. One of the employees in our family business had the hots for me and I indulged in a one month relationship because he was dead cute! We saw sense after that and we‘re great friends to this day. Never again, I say!

Dumb, dumb de dumb, dumb...
I agree with Cali.
I‘ve watched this one in action, and it never turns out well. What happens when you break up? You still get to go to the office and see each other every single day.
When other people catch on, it creates a lot of gossip and drama in the workplace, and it affects workplace morale. Not to mention that the two people can‘t stand each other when it‘s over, and it becomes impossible to ever work together again.
Hence, the reason behind no-dating workplace policies. Fraternization has no place at work.
I worked for an attorney once who fell in love with his legal assistant. She ended up quitting her job. They eventually got married. But they no longer worked together.
I even feel the need to be very careful about the friends I make at work. Generally, you do a whole lot better if you keep your personal life at home.

I always say to the guys here, (I work with 16 men and 1 woman) I tell them you dont stick your pen in the company ink well.
I know people that have done this and one of them always ends up quiting.
I feel if you are married that and doing it, you are dirt and should be fired and divorced.
No way would I EVER have an office affair, (single or married) I love my job and have worked here 24 years. I enjoy coming to work everyday and I would hate to screw that up.

Very interesting replies.. I like the phrase, "don‘t get your meat where you get your bread" ...The reason I posted this topic is that where I work, I know few married women who try to get all their supplies under one roof! :-) and looks like they are getting good bargains too!
It‘s a large organization - so we have people from different backgrounds and some girls certainly do a little bit more than just ‘window shopping‘ (which I am guilty of sometimes :-)) ..Some do because they are career-minded and some, just for the pleasure..and it sure was embarassing to one such couple when I accidently walked into an office last week...:-)
