I am from.
I am from laughter and joy and family gatherings
From crazy bread, yogurt and peanut butter.
I am from trips to Leesburg and holiday cheer
memories made of gold, never fading, never dim.
I am from the smell of satin from pristine new Pointe shoes
And from the red wagon wheeling those days at the park.
I am from swimming lessons and ice skating sessions
And playing school, swimming and summer’s watermelons.
I am from hanging clothes on the line and catching tadpoles with Daddy
Going to school coming home and long peaceful slumbers.
I am from following dreams, reaching high standards, making the team,
And everyday coming home to my heaven on Earth; Mommy, Daddy and me.
I am from first cousins hiking in the mountains, picking apples off lush trees
Always from streams, canoeing and never cart wheeling.
I am from happiness, laughter, tears, quiet, chaos, but you can’t forget
That I am from me.

she‘s taking honors gifted language arts. this weeks assignment was: a moment in your life that changed everything.
she wrote the moment was the day she first heard the letters: A.L.S.
she went on to list all the many ways she and her granny showed their affection and love for each other, always a hard task for granny until her grandchildren came along.
i made the right choice going to granny‘s to sit out my divorce.
