i am a first time user of a hormonal birth control (im using the patch) and during the first week of using it i was so depressed... i would get very sensitive and anything could easily make me cry.... i am now in my third week and thankfully, i only get like that once a week.... does a hormonal birth control really make the user depressed? what can i do about it?
another question is it says in the leaflet that if your patch falls off for less than a day, it is okay... on the 6th day of my second week, i decided to take it off when i met up with my partner because the patch did look a little dirty (being that it was the 6th day of wearing it) and i did not want my partner to see it like that (i was "patchless" for a max of 15 hours) ... the following day was of course "change patch day" so i put on a new patch that morning... will doing this affect the way the patch works? will doing this get me pregnant?

Hi Leafy,
To answer your first question: Yes, the Ortho Evra patch may make you depressed or irritable and alter your mood. If this feeling is interfering with your daily life and preventing you from functioning normally, talk to your doctor. Depending on your symptoms, you may or may not be depressed. Your doctor will have to see you to determine if you are actually depressed, whether or not the patch is the cause, and then decide on the appropriate treatment.
As per your second question, if your patch was off for less than 24 hours, you should be OK. Your "Patch Change Day" will remain the same, and you did the right thing by putting on a new patch the next morning. Try to avoid being patchless for more than 24 hours unless of course its your "Patch Free Week".
I hope this helps.

I have a solution for your probs. I use allay and find it an
extremely useful drug free treatment for pain and inflammation during
periods. It induces electrical current
into damaged cells, recharges them and stops pain. I have been using it for
three months. It really works!! Why doesn’t u try? For further details see www.allaypatch.com.
