Ahhh!!  I am already worried about wrinkles too!!  I think I am getting smile lines.  I feel like I am wrinkling under the eye when I smile.  Does that mean I will be wrinkled like that in a few years or am I being silly?

hey ladies,

I was wondering if you guys knew of a product that puts your pores under control..

and thanks for all of the beauty product tips.. Lipstick 3 Blush

Are you looking for something to control the shine?  A lot of companies make a shine control product.  I use one from a company that went out of biz (Skinmarket, in case even of you used to belong to the Underground), but I also have one from Clinique and Avon. The Clinique one is pretty good, but I prefer Avon’s.

yes my pores are oily. but nothing seems to work

Darla,

You are African-American, correct? Black skin tends to be oilier than other races. It is big part of the reason why "black don't crack."  The time will come when you'll be relieved that your skin was oily in your younger years.

Have you tried different mattifiers? As I said, I have tried several (my skin is now combination, but was oily in my 20's) and found Avon's to be the best for me. Clinique also has one, as I'm sure most skincare companies do. Go to a department store or Sephora and ask them what they recommend. I also saw that Clean & Clear now makes a mattifier, but I haven't tried it yet. I still have three bottles of others to use up before I go buying more.

Lady,

Do you use a suncreen everyday?  I avoided the sun altogether for years because my mom was diagnosed with skin cancer when I was 15. She has had malignant spots removed for the past 20 years, including two last week. We have the exact same coloring, so I know it could happen to me, too.  I think this avoidance of the sun is what has kept me youthful-looking. Now, thank God, they have moisturizers with sunscreen, so now I don’t have to avoid the sun as much.  If you use a moisturizer with suncreen and a good eye cream, you’ll be just fine. I wouldn’t lay out in the sun, though, unless you wear a SPF of 30 or higher.

I am outdoors a lot biking, running, basketball, whatever I can do.  I wear sunscreen and the foundation I use also has an SPF 15, but I don't wear a lot of makeup.

I think they are just smile lines.  After reading the last few posts, I got a hand held mirror and stared at the skin around my eyes and kept smiling to see what happened..  I started noticing other women as well and they have the same thing I do, so hopefully I am not aging too soon! :)

On the Botox topic, my mom uses a lot of Aloette cosmetics.  She uses these firming sirums.  I have posted a link below.  She swears by them.

Does his include your arms? Do you use a razor to shave? This actually makes me think of another question I have been meaning to ask? Does anyone know if it is true about whether or not shaving actually leads to more hair growth? What about the hair growing back courser?

FYI...I use a beard and moustache trimmer to keep downtown clean and litter free.

What’s the best method to remove facial hair?

I read that this is a myth and hair will actually grow back finer.
I don’t find this true as far as bikini line it seems the more I
shave the further out it grows.I need to take the plunge to
waxing.Sorry LMM I didn't see your post I respond to posts
without reading others first.

Expression lines will only get worse with time.I’m one of  the
unfortunate that when I smile my whole face smiles so I have
all the lines around my outer eyes(the lovely crow’s feet)
After my divorce feeling like the ugliest person in the world
I got botox around my outer eyes it wasn’t bad at all and the
crow’s feet where gone but the paralysis around the eyes
caused my cheeks to make my eyes look Chinese when I
smiled. It was a weird feeling but subsided after a few weeks.
Kris I have the derma new dermabrasion kit which works
well but I think Neutrogena has one now that’s probably
a lot cheaper.
Edited to add Lady expression lines build character we may
not like them but it means we've had years of smiling one
thing I'll never have is frown lines and who wants to look
like a mannequin anyway?

I wish I could have hair as straight as a board sometimes.  I wasborn with REALLY curly hair.  I just finally chemicallystraightened it about a month ago and the chemical burned off some ofit! ack.  now you can’t notice it... and now my hair is straight, well not as a board.  It still waves and is beginning to spiralagain.  I have to flat iron it and put some marc anthony on it andsome pomade or styling creme.

I use:

conair ceramic technology flat iron (no blow drying needed anymore)
FX manipulative creme which I need some more of (I love this stuff)
Got2B playfull creme pomade (don’t recommend.  yes it smells like whipped creme mmm... but it makes your hair feel nasty.)

I don’t think i have anything else to add...for now...but now I need to shop...maybe in a month or two.

LOL we all want what we don't have.I always wanted curly
hair and back in the 80s fried my hair with perms.I love to
look back at old pictures and all the diferent hair dos over the
years and go what was I thinking.

I just remembered a makeup tip a friend told me once.

In order for your lipstick to last a long time:  Apply the color, then blot it with your compact powder and then apply the color again.  It has great staying power!

I just bought Dove eye cream. It has a SPF 8, which is the reason I bought it. It was also an impulse purchase, but I actually love it. I noticed a difference right away.

I also use Dove deodorant. I used to use a crystal deodorant, but then, out of the blue, I had a severe allergic reaction. A dermatologist recommended Dove. It cleared up the rash within a couple of days. I'm really high on Dove products right now because I love their campaign for real beauty.

I also like Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castel Liquid Soap in the summer or after a workout. The peppermint is so strong that it tingles and I feel really refreshed afterwards.

Anyone know of a good product I can put it my hair when it gets frizzy? The humidity these days is causing major frizziness and I would love to find a product that soothes the frizz w/o weighing my hair down.

Expression lines look so much better than a strange pulled look. I think they can actually make a woman look wise and more attractive.

Chick, what exactly does the dermabrasion kit do for you? What changes have you noticed?

Wait! Am I understanding you correctly? The speaker wanted you to say that the models were beautiful, skinny, etc. and that real women are ugly and fat? What the hell kind of self-esteem building is that for young girls??!!

Bunny, have you gone to www.campaignforrealbeauty.com yet?  I really like the site. They have something on there for younger women and girls. You may want to check it out.

Well, what she wanted us to notice is how people want everyone to looklike this "beautiful."  She said that the real beauty women arebeautiful and themselves.  The cosmo women may be beautiful andthemselves but even if the media portrays that that is perfect that thereal beauty ads are perfect as well.  She wanted us to alsorealize that with the beauty of being yourself or the beauty ofadapting yourself to the "perfect" image comes with labels of equalhurt.

Does this make any sense.  She didn’t want us to yell out what wethough, she wanted us to yell out what people said to these women andhow the media portrayed them to be.  It made the audience feelkind of low to be pretty actually.  Made me kind of ashamed tohave "blondish" hair, skinny and actually call myself beautiful. The assembly was okay... could have been done a little betterthough.  I learned nothing new.

I think I sort of get it. Was the speaker from Dove? Was she using photos from the Campaign for Real Beauty?

I'm not sure her method is one that I would apply, but if you all got the message, then I guess it worked.

It removes all the dead skin cells and makes your skin glow.
It also makes it really soft...but it doesn't help with wrinkles.

I also like Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castel Liquid Soap in the summer or after a workout. The peppermint is so strong that it tingles and I feel really refreshed afterwards.

Oh yeah this stuff is good and cheaper than Shock Therapy which
is also a mint wash.I noticed they carry it at Wild Oats and it
comes in lavender too which would be good before bed.

I didn't realize at first that you copied and pasted my message into your post. I thought, "Wow! She thinks exactly the same way I do about Dr. Bronner's."  Duh!!!

Dr. Bronner's soap also makes for very interesting reading. I love it because the mint is so much stronger than in many products, therefore causing a really lasting sensation.  However, the soap is drying and I cannot use it on a daily basis.  Have you ever tried brushing your teeth with it or using it in your laundry?  I have not, but the label says it safe to do so. I think it would be weird to have a soapy lather in my mouth.  I use Listerine for that death mint refreshment. I know it kills everything.

What about puffy eyes? I have pockets under my eyes (genetic). I’ve tried everything I could, some were very expensive but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone here know anything good? I’ve tried Galénic, Vichy, Dior, Sthendal, etc...

Thanks

My sister has the same problem and she has tried alot of
different creams.Try sleeping on a slight incline to prevent
fluid from pooling under the eyes during sleep, cold compresses
may help too.
