I am 31 and have a 2 year old little girl and I just left my husband in July. He has always been highly abusive verbaly. He put me down in every way possible and he was highly neglectfull to me my daughter and our family pet dogs. 2 to 3 months after i got the strength to leave I went back to the house a few times and took pictures of how he was taking care of our little girl on the days that he had her and I also found that the dogs were not being taken care of. They were starved and dehidrated. There bones were showing and there noses were crusted over and rock hard. He was keeping them pinned up in the yard with no food or water and did not pick up after them for 3 months. The house had dog pee and poop on the floors and the house had dirty diapers everywhere. my dauters room had piles of dirty diapers trails of ants and her sheets were soiled and never changed. I have to go to court in 1 week to fight a restraining order against him but i had to no longer use my lawyer they needed more money that I do not have. I have the restraining order in place mostly for the safty of what my daughter will see and experience and second of all for my mental health. Every time he is over he started altercations and would threatin my family and me. I am scared to go to court with out a lawyer and I was wondering if anyone could assist me with helping me find services for battered women.

Annmarie: Contact your local shelter network, and see what resources are available in your community. See if there are any non-profit legal organizations that can assist you. The shelters have legal advocates. They will even go to court with you.

You can report the animal cruelty on your husband. The animals will be removed from the premises. I am so sorry for that. It breaks my heart to think of animals being mistreated and starved like that.

I am sorry for your dilemma. We will try to help you however we can.

You do need an attorney in court.

Does your husband have an order for temporary visitation?

You MUST file a restraining order that includes your daughter! I have found this out the hard way. If he has threatened you and your family make sure she is on that order as well.

Take those pictures in to the rape and abuse crisis center.
