My name is Franchesca and I am from Lincoln, NE. I just became a Rep so I thought I would introduce myself and tell everyone a little about me. I am 19 years old and I currently work as an apparel specialist at a local retail store. In the spring I plan on attending college to major in Genetic Counseling.
The reason that I feel so strongly about helping to stop violence against women is because my mother was a victim for many years. This man stalked her, would break into the house when we weren‘t home, call her continuously, and when confrontation occured, he would hit her and threaten to kill her. Eventually he was arrested with a loaded rifle in his truck. He went away for a while but the cycle just kept repeating itself. Growing up, I lived in fear, but I am not afraid anymore and I want to help in any way that I can. Being on the outside looking in, I have gained a lot of insight as to what goes on in an abusive relationship, and a year ago I was in a relationship with an emotionally abusive man.
