And again!  LOL

Frank Hatley has languished in a South Georgia jail for more than a year.

The reason? He failed to reimburse the state for all the public assistance his “son” received over the past two decades.

Clearly...he isnt the father.  Clearly,I wasnt the parent.  Nor did I sign on ANY dotted line.  If I remember correctly...I was 10!  LOL  Its the same screwed up principle.

It is not the woman who is going after - or who would  receive - the child support.  It is the state pursuing this.

This is why the court order still applies.  He didn‘t fill out the paperwork to be relieved of his obligation.  This is definitely an unjust situation.  I wonder what kind of attorney this guy has had, and what kind of appeals have been filed.  I think it should have gone to the Supreme Court.

Also, the mother was on Public Assistance.  This means that the state collected the child support.  When women are  receiving public assistance, the money is applied to the grant they are receiving. 

Now what pointers do you boys have for the numbers of "legitimate" fathers who don‘t pay child support?

so what?  the woman could do the right thing and take the REAL father to court for child support.

But no, she is hiding behind the court.  I don‘t know how a cheater could so worthlessly lead someone on to think his child is his, when she fathered the child with someone else, then still take his money even if the court says so.

Well also, having said what I said above, if I found out that my kids weren‘t mine, regardless of what is the right and wrong thing for the mother to do, I‘d still want to pay because I love those kids.  I am the only father they have ever known.  And the last thing I‘d want for them is to have to start calling some scumbag "dad" midstream.

If I ever found out my kids weren‘t mine, I would still want to be their father.  And I would tell their scumbag mother that I will still support them, but that she doesn‘t have the right to demand anything more of me.

And if she did take me to court for more, I‘d fight it tooth and nail and costs her dearly in court costs.

Clearly,you are too emoitional about cheating matters to understand this is past anything the woman has done.

I find it alarming the justice system continues holding the man accountable.  Thats the real scary thought!!!!!!

I have an uncle that raised another mans child because his POS wife decided to screw around and ended up pregnant. My uncle raised this child and then at 18 mother decided that the child should know that the man that raised him was not his bio father.  That bratty ass kid completely cut my uncle out of his life until he got into trouble then guess who he called??? And of course my uncle bailed him out because he loved him as his own flesh and blood.

That is what makes you a unique man.

The 10% paternity fraud rate appeared already in Australia and in Cannada.

there are tons of men out there who step to the plate even knowing the child isn‘t theirs.

I would certainly sue to get my money back, considering in my country the laws are different.

No, the idea that is being put forth is, don‘t blame the woman for the courts decision.  She didn‘t have to bring it to court in the first place to make a man who isn‘t the father pay.

No.  Ive never once said the woman isnt to blame.  You are putting those words in my mouth.  Please learn to ask questions before assuming. You wish to endlessly bitch about her cheating.  What good is that going to do NOW? You completely overlook the fact the justice system is the problem NOW.

For heaven sakes!  The man should have his money refunded!!!  The justice system SHOULD be on his side.  Instead....they STILL want him to pay back her welfare checks.

No, not overlooking that the justice system is the problem.  I completely agree.  But the women in these cases are the ones that are bringing this to court so the court can make them pay.  The court wouldn‘t have the opportunity to railroad some man if the woman who fathered a child with someone else didn‘t bring the innocent man to court.

The woman could say, "he is not the father, therefore I am not going to take his money and will bring the real father to court".

A woman that doesn‘t go after the real father is hiding behind the court.

That would be like me letting the court force someone to pay for totalling my car, when they weren‘t the ones that were involved in the accident.  Why would I do that?  What kind of person would I be knowing that I know someone else damaged my car, but because I want the money, I‘ll let the court force some innocent person to pay.

The women in these cases can do the right thing....but they don‘t.  They hide behind the court because they want the money and are too despicable to do the right thing and take the real father to court.

Ya, and the woman in question will sit back and let it happen knowing he is innocent.

Whether its the law or the judge, wouldn‘t matter to me, I‘d be writing a letter to the editor of the local paper indicating both the "woman‘s" name, and the judge.  Who knows, it might help get the judge unseated next time elections come up.

Or better yet, if this happened to me, I‘d campaign for the challenger.
