I don’t have a mother-in-law, but you can send yours over here. She can clean and do my laundry to her hearts content!

that sounds like a winning plan.
Maybe couples should have a type of pre-nup that addresses in-laws. They (in laws) could be penalized for unsolicited and excessive interferance in the couples marriage.
Just a thought....

I was out shopping the other day when I saw six women
beating my MIL up. As I stood there and watched, her
neighbor,
who knew me, said, "Well, aren‘t you going to help?"
I replied, "No. Six of them is enough".

I dont think they do bail over here for murder charges? She landed yesterday pm by the time i‘d got home she‘d hoovered, washed the entire contents of the washing basket (she doesnt like dirty things) and she‘d bought loads of biscuits and cakes which we dont eat. Today I got home to find that she has ordered us new carpets for the house but no one thought to ask me and my bf what colour we wanted if in fact we even wanted new carpets, they‘ve been paid for now and are to be fitted on tues! I know she means well but its a bit much!

A woman was leaving a convenience
store with her morning coffee when she noticed a most
unusual funeral
procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A long black
hearse
was followed by a second long black hearse about 50 feet
behind.
Behind the second hearse was a solitary woman walking a very
mean
looking dog on a leash. Behind that were 200 women walking
single
file.
The woman couldn‘t stand her curiosity.
She respectfully approached the woman walking the dog and
said, "I
am so sorry for your loss, and I know now is a bad time to
disturb
you, but I‘ve never seen a funeral procession like this.
Whose funeral
is it?"
The woman replied, "Well, that first hearse is for my
husband."
"What happened to him?"
The woman replied, "My dog attacked and killed him."
She inquired further, "Well, who is in the second hearse?"
The woman answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to
help my husband when the dog turned on her."
A poignant and thoughtful moment of silence passed between
the two
women.
"Can I borrow the dog?"
"Get in line."

Update time. We are, all 4 of us still alive and eeeking our some kind of existence, including the cat. But then I have been out most nights.
She is having the house recarpeted tomorrow and I would tell you what the new carpet looks like but I wasnt consulted when she picked it and have no idea what it looks like, but she still hoovers like there‘s no tomorrow! She was even painting the skirting boards and got paint on the carpet and started to scrub it out - it goes to the tip tomorrow!
I was told by my bf (lets call him Frank) Frank said she was here for 3 weeks but every time I ask it seems to be getting longer! Now she‘s staying until September, thankfully I go away on the 2nd but apparently she‘s here until the second week in Sep. Im sure this wasnt what Frank said originally!
I had a mega hangover on Sunday but still agreed to go for coffee with Frank and her but this turned into a 4 hour trek of two supermarkets! Im trying really hard though, I really am. God or the Devil, give me strength!

She visits every year just to see her family! Arrrgh! Her husband lives where she does-on a different continent!

You really are a doll for bearing it as well as you have been. Just remember, she wont be around forever and one day, when she isnt around anymore, your guy will appreciate your efforts to be good to her even though she is infuriatingly "helpful".
She is probably just doing everything she thinks her little boy needs,(even though he is a man, he will always be her baby) and wants to do everything she can for him while she is around to do it. Think of allowing her to do as she pleases for him and you right now as a gift that will in a way, kick in later on while he is grieving for her and remembering her. You are doing the right thing in trying so hard, and for that, i hope he knows what a gem he has in you.
