I just wanted to get this out here:
Mark Lee Barrett is a charming English man that acts like he is sensitive. He cries A LOT. It is sweet at first and you will want to help. The crying will get on your nerves and you will begin to notice that the tears and end of the world melodrama happens every time you want to have a ‘‘grownup‘‘ conversation with him. You will tell him that he cries more than a grown man should, especially that he has a great life.
The tears will dry up immediately and the cruel name calling will start. He will ruin every occasion, interrupt every business meeting, accuse you of awful things that he was in the room for knowing that it never happened. You will put your foot down and tell him no more behavior like that because you love him and you are virtuous.
He will then begin poking his finger in your face as he screams at you that you are ungrateful. He blocks your exit from rooms. You will tell him that you are afraid and he tells you that you are not. He will shove you when you try to leave the room. You will cry and he will call you a ****.
Eventually, he throws you on the bed and puts his knee in your chest as he strangles you until you pass out and get broken blood vessels in your eye and a big bruise on your chest.
Repeat X 3.

Thank you! Is there a thread where I can read other women‘s survivor stories? I know there are much worse than mine but I feel less stupid when I realize that other smart women are tricked into these terrible situations.

In the Abuse Forum are many MANY stories. Of women just like you.
And don‘t you dare call yourself stupid! You are far from it. This is all on him, where it belongs.
You fell in love with a man that didn‘t deserve your love. Mistakes are just lessons and once you learn the lesson, you don‘t repeat it. I am quite sure you will be very wise in your next selection of a man.
And you my dear, deserve nothing less than to be honored, adored and most of all respected.
Your story will be very inspiring to the women in the Abuse forum and your experiences will be very helpful. You have no idea how many lives your story will touch.
I so respect your courage!

Thank you for that. I stumbled upon it right after I posted that! I am all over it.
Have you ever been tired of being the inspiration to others? I seem to have been told that my whole life. I am ready to be inspired!
I will find that here, I am sure. Reciprocate the good feelings.

I happen to think you being an inspiration to others all your life is a good thing sweetie, a real good thing.
Know that you are not alone, you are not the only "smart" woman to fall pray to an asshole. I struggled with that one for years. Continually asked myself how and why.
Shally is right, its not how or why any longer, its merely where we went/go from THERE, what we learnt about ourselves and what we‘ll do different in our futures!!!
Welcome again and I hope you find much here to inspire you personally, and in the next breathe, offer much to inspire others!

No I never tire of it. I do get what you‘re saying, it seems at times you give and give and get nothing in return.
But for me, when I give I get back tenfold.
Of course we all need inspiration, we need at times to feed our own souls. The stories here, the pals I‘ve made, do it for me. :)
Also I discovered this site and I absolutley love it ~
