My Daughter called me from School and told me she had been feeling dizzy and I had told her that when she feels this way to go to the Nurse office or sit down ,so she don‘t fall down.
She said she was headed for PE and she felt dizzy so she sat in the hall and kids where bumping into her and that when she got up she fell. So she went to the Nurse office. when she got there the nurse just told her to grab a ice pack. I asked her if she looked at her knee and she said NO .I said I want to talk to her. I asked what happen when my Daughter came in and what she did for her.She told me that she had told my Daughter to grab the ice pack and that all the kids do this and even if they have a cut they clean and put a band aid on it them self. that they are old enough to do it since it is middle . And that it is School police and if a child can‘t walk then she would do it for them or if it was really bad. I then went back and talk to my Daughter and asked her how far away the Nurse was sitting from her and she couldn‘t tell me.the Nurse then wanted to talk with me. She said my Daughter is over reacting and that she is sitting a arm away from her and that she knee is fine and that I am making her feel like she is not taken care of her.She said because she knows of my daughter‘s health problems she is letting her say a little longer to make sure she is ok and not feeling dizzy any more.
when my Daughter just got home I looked at her knee ,I it seems to look fine. She said the Nurse didn‘t even look at her when she came in because she was on the phone and eating her lunch. So my Daughter sat down and waited for her and when she got off the phone she asked her now tell me what happen and then said go get the ice pack.
Is it me or would anyone else be mad about the way this Nurse handle thing‘s. not the first time I have been upset with this School.
I tried to call the Predicable once I calmed down a little and my Daughter got home, but he was gone home for the day. plan on calling him tomorrow.

I would definitely be upset. The nurse doesn‘t know how bad it felt, you daughter could have had a torn meniscus for all she knew. That was very unprofessional of her. I would report it not only to the principal but to the school district. They won‘t do anything most likely. They probably won‘t even chew her out, but if anyone else complains about the same nurse then there is history in her file and they will probably raise an eyebrow.
School staff tends to stick together when it comes to things like this, especially in a school with a higher level of kids that act the jerk opposed to the kids that are just there to learn. They sometimes assume a child is faking or being overly dramatic in order to skip class. They are just used to kids lying to them. Still it‘s no excuse. Definitely place some calls in the morning.

N I agree with you, If we don‘t stand up and protect our children who will?
You should contact the school board. She has a job to do and should do it. That is what she is paid for, if it was one of us not doing our job we would be fired.

she said since these are middle School kids in 7th and 8th grade they have then do things for them self .And that they even clean there own cuts and put on band aids .that she only dose things for them if they are really bad , other wise it is to teach them to care for them self.
My Daughter is fine ,but that is not my point.

She still should have looked at her, for all she knew she was hurt bad.
She should have looked at it and then said here let me get you some ice. not have the hurt student get their own ice.

That is inexcusable on the nurses part. She should have been more concerned about the dizziness and her history. Hang up the phone, stop eating and take care of the child. It‘s her job.I definitely get to the bottom of it. Whether it takes talking to the principal or the board, something needs to be done.
Yes I would have been very pissed.

I‘m so sorry to hear about this babe!
We have a girl working for us who‘s not very enthusiastic about having to work every day to pay her bills. She shuffles her feet and does the bare minimum. She‘s 21 years old and moves slower than a sloth. One day our secretary got a last minute order and told her to run outside and call one of our other employees who was driving out of the shop to do his rounds - it was urgent! She didn‘t run. Instead sat there with her arms crossed and said "I think if we call him on his cell phone it will be better".
I wish I was making this up!
I happened to be there when this happened, ran out, got the guy to come back in the shop and said to her: "She didn‘t ask for your opinion on what would be better. That‘s not your job. She gave you an order. I don‘t have to explain to you why it would not have been better to call him".
Therefore, the nurse‘s job is not to play psychologist or juvenile behaviourist... she‘s paid to ensure that children are well taken care of and that they‘re safe without the risk of injury. Why they would use the "they‘re grown so they can put band aids on themselves" argument is beyond me! If a child chooses to exploit this system and skip classes, that is none of their concern!
God it makes me angry!
Glad to hear your little one is ok!

Schools are right up there with doctors when it comes to ignoring problems, sweeping them under the rug, and not dealing with things when they should be dealt with. Patting you on the head and just hoping you will go away.
I got the same kind of bull**** excuses and "headpats" when my "special needs" daughter was in school and suffered from bullying and harassment. It is just crap.
Or just blaming your kid is the answer quite often. It‘s the kid who needs to change, to toughen up, and the reason the kid has all these issues is because you‘re not doing your job as a parent. And this is the crap they say because the truth is, they just don‘t want to do their job.
I am sorry. It is infuriating.

thank you ladies ,I just wanted to make sure I was not over reacting . I called and left a message and the lady wanted to know why I wanted to talk to him ,and I didn‘t tell her.I just told her it has something to do with something that happen at the school with a staff person, and she was asking who.I said I will talk to him about it.
I looked on line and made a call to the board and got the name and number to call, and was told to talk to the school first.I told the lady I left a message. she said they should deal with it.I told her I wouldn‘t know if they really did. So that is when she gave me the number to call.
things never seem to end do they.

I got a call back from the same nurse that I talked with yesterday. she said she was told to call me and that she did take care of my daughter. And that my daughter was not lip pen when she came in so she felt she could get her own ice pack. I then told her my daughter was feeling dizzy and she could have fallen ,she then came back and said she hadn‘t told her that at first and that my daughter had not sit down yet.I told her that she should have been told to sit, because you know she has Seizures and you don‘t know if she feel because of the Seizure or that she could have fallen getting the ice pack and hit her head and that it would have been on her. she also said that she didn‘t know if my Daughter came in to talk to her, because she likes to talk to her.
she said next time she will get the ice pack for if it ever happens again. I told her I disagree with the way they handle things and have children get there own ice packs and go back to class ,just because they don‘t see anything wrong with it,because there could be something inside they can‘t see.And that the School would be reliable if anything where to happen.
I called the superintendent number I was given and spoke to a lady and she said they would have to look into it and call me back. She doesn‘t know when it will be/
I then called back to the School and asked to talk to the predicable and was told he was not in his office.I left a message with the lady to please tell him I am waiting for a call back from him.

ok he called me back and said that he already talk to the lady in what they call medical room. I told him I don‘t think that children shouldn‘t be doing what they are having to do there.and that it is her job to get up and get them the ice pack , his thing was that he will make sure she looks at it before she tells them to get there own ice pack,I said looking at it is not enough it could still be bad and you not see it.
And I told him if my daughter had fallen and gotten hurt because she went and got her own ice pack, that he wouldn‘t want me there and with everyone I would bring with me. said they where sending home a copy of the rules they have to follow so I could see them.
I also said this is not just about my child being taken care of, there are other children there that have special needs or that have Seizures and how are you to know if a child is not starting to have seizures and know one knows.
I will wait on the school board and the paper work to come home and see what they say. He also said he would say something to the health board about it,because I just kept saying this needs to change because they can be to blame if a child gets hurt and the right things are not done because they just give a look and then tell them to get a ice pack and send them back to there class.
