Maybe I should say "idea childhood"
First of all, I don‘t believe there is anything as a perfect childhood. But I do believe if your parents made a sincere effort to do their best, then that is what matters.
The idea childhood would be an environment where the child grows feeling that they are loved and wanted. If the child doesn‘t feel loved, then EVERY effort should be made to help that child. No child should feel unloved, I think that is most important.
The idea childhood is one in which all the childs physical needs are met...plenty of food, etc....
The idea childhood grows up in an environment without abuse or parents addictions.
The idea childhood grows up in an environment where religion is agreed upon.
Ok...Help me out here....what is your ideas of a perfect childhood.....???

I don‘t believe there is any such thing. I don‘t know anyone who has had a perfect childhood. Perfection doesn‘t exist.
I was determined to provide it for my own children, but I fell far, far short. It didn‘t mean that I didn‘t love my kids or that I didn‘t do my best. I made my fair share of mistakes.

I agree with Rhi....my mom and dad made ALOT of mistakes with us kids....I have made ALOT of mistakes with my kids....to me it all comes down to "your toolbox" as I have said before. My parents did the best with what knowledge was passed to them (their toolbox), and I have done my best with what was passed to me (my toolbox)....I hope that my kids do their best with the "toolbox" that I have passed to them....
My mom always used to say...."when you have a child, it doesn‘t come with a manual....so all you can do is punt"....LOL....

I agree with the both of you....no such thing as a perfect childhood.
I am sure I made my share of mistakes with my own children, just as everyone has if they are being honest. We can always look back and see where we could have did things differently. Even though it felt right at the time.
I am just thankful that my children love me and have chose to include me as a part of their lives as adults, and in their childrens lives. I can‘t imagine a life without them.
Through thick and thin we are always there for each other....and always will be.... the way it should be.

I‘m feeling sentimental today....just found out I have another grandbaby on the way.
