I adopted one once.  I had him for about an hour  and he took off, I lived out in the country  and I never saw him again.

He was a fast little ****!

I adore greyhounds (well all dogs really). I think they get a raw deal, once the racing element/ speed has left them and then loads of owners dont want them anymore.

My friend adopted a retired greyhound and called her Poppy. She thought a) she was helping a good cause and b) she could combine this with getting fit and lots of exercise.

She has accomplished the good cause bit but she says Poppy gets to the fields near her house, runs riot, like a speedy looney for about 3 minutes in total and is then done in for the day  refusing to walk anywhere else
