My boyfriend called the cops on my sister. They made a deal. He would do some work for her in exchange she bought him a tool. He didn‘t finish the work. So she wanted the tool back. Then we found out he left a tool at her house. so he wanted it back, but she wanted the new one back in exchange. He called the cops on her. They said it‘s a civial suit. Now she‘s pissed and he‘s not allowed at her house. The whole thing sucks. I didn‘t make the deal but I‘m stuck in the middle of the fight. I think it‘s lame he didn‘t want to finish the job. He blames her for being cranky that things weren‘t getting done fast enough and not listening to her. She told them to stop in one area several times. I threw a fit and told them to stop. They went ahead and did what they wanted. Ended up breaking some windows and now everything they did will have to be torn out according to other men who have looked at it. Right after he called the cops on her, he was cursing her and broke an antic mirror my grandmother gave me.

I am a contractor and one thing I have learned is never work for family or friends.

True that, unless they understand that free work is secondary to paid real work. I also think that only a licensed contractor should be used-then there is recourse that can be pursued.
Your sister shouldn‘t have given him the tool until the work was finished. If he needed it, Home Depot rents tools out. (Sears does too!)

How a man treats his own mother is usually a good indication of how he‘ll treat you.
But, since his mother was nowhere to be found, your sister will suffice.

Please remember that SHE was YOUR SISTER before HE was YOUR BOYFRIEND. Also blood is thicker than water!!!

With those kinds of dynamics, my best guess is that she‘ll be her sister LONG after he ceases to be her boyfriend.

He didn‘t complete the job so he doesn‘t deserve the new tool. Does he deserve some payment for the work that was done correctly? Probably.
My concern is that he broke the mirror. Does he break things often? This is a good indicator of someone who has anger issues.
