October 2003 Domestic Violence Awareness Month Events in Alameda County
In the memory of those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end violence.
September 30, 2003 Alameda County Board of Supervisors (510-272-6918); Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker sponsors a
proclamation to declare October 2003 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Alameda County.

October 1, 2003 Family Violence Law Center (510-540-5370); Kick off for DV Awareness month – “Uniting to End
Domestic Violence!” at City of Oakland Frank Ogawa Plaza.

Shimtuh: Korean Domestic Violence Program (510- 547-2360); 5th annual community event and fundraiser. 2 :00 – 5:30 PM; Richmond Korean Baptist Church, 5711 Jefferson Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804. This event centers around stories of Korean women‘s experiences, and hopes to raise
awareness about the effects of domestic violence on children and survivors. Designed with families of our community in mind, the event will feature a silent witness exhibit, a puppet show, and interactive question and response and discussion sessions. Food & Beverage and Childcare provided
