I‘m 47 y.o. & been having bad paps for nearly 2 years now. 1st ASCUS with inflammation in 4/07, now my last 2 (8/08 & 12/08) were CIN1 with inflammation. They did HPV typing, and my GP said I have HPV for sure.
I‘ve never had a wart that I know of, no doc has ever mentioned seeing a wart IN me, and I‘ve never SEEN a wart on anyone I‘ve been with, but I‘ve had some risky partners. I know not all strains cause warts.
Who knows when I was exposed to it? I have it now & I have to deal with it. I‘m waiting for the results to come in the mail so I can see which strains of HPV I have. I‘m pretty sure I have some that are cancer-causing, due to the negative changes in my cervical cels. I‘ll be seeing a gyno in mid-February to discuss treatment options.
I‘m worried about my health, and I‘m also worried about my future relationships.
I‘m not in a relationship now, but I understand that I will need to tell any future partners that I have it. I also need to tell my last long-term guy that he might have it. We did have unprotected sex. for several years. I understand there is no test for men, and that at this point, many MANY sexually active men already have it & just don‘t know it.
I‘ve been reading on the Internet about it, and I saw that regular, PERFECT condom use can help prevent its spread vaginally & anally. What about oral sex? Can I receive oral sex from a man & not pass it to him?
I‘m gonna get pretty graphic here:
What if he keeps his mouth away from my vagina, and just concentrates on the clitoris? Could he still be exposed to HPV?
Am I destined to live like a nun the rest of my life?

HPV can be spread via oral sex. You can give it to a partner that way. Use protection. For intercourse, there are condoms. For oral sex, there are dental dams. Used correctly, they are just as effective as condoms. Even if he just focuses on your clitoris, without protection, he can still get infected.

Great. Sign me up at the convent!
Got my recent results in the mail:
LSIL: low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion
HPV DNA: High risk detected
It doesn‘t list the specific strains I have, just says "High risk types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 or 68 may cause cervical cancer or its precursors."
I am most unhappy about all this, plus I have fibroids too. I see a gyno a week from Monday to see what we can do. goody.
Anybody in here been thru this too? What did you do? How did it go?
:(
