I have noticed this for many months, maybe a year now. I have a definite swelling (not well seen but can be felt on palpation easily) on the right side of my neck basically at the bend where the shoulder meets it. It doesn‘t hurt at all, but I just feel it and it is starting to bother me because I don‘t know what it is. I hate to go to the doctor, mainly because I have a huge deductible even for visits, unless it‘s something that is really important. I haven‘t strained it, it‘s completely nonpainful, but others in my family can feel it as well, so it‘s not my imagination.
I thought perhaps thyroid but maybe it‘s too far away from the thyroid gland. I really don‘t know. The last TSH I had was normal, and that was just a few months ago. I don‘t have thyroid problems that I am aware of.

Hi.
I recommend that you see your doctor to find out what this mass is. If it is located on the side of your neck, it is not your thyroid. Your doctor may want to do an imaging study like an ultrasound or MRI for example to actually see what the mass is. I suggest you go sooner than later, because if it is something serious, like Hodgkin‘s lymphoma (a treatable cancer which is common in young women), you can start your therapy as soon as possible.
Keep me posted and let me know if you have any other questions. And please make an appointment with your doctor soon.
