I have a slight overactive thyroid. No meds.
Recently, my blood pressure has dropped. 89/67. Needless to say...Im feeling exausted and as if I will pass out. Vision problems. This is not at all normal....I usually have boundless energy.
How do I get it back up?
Ive been eating a lot of fruit and drinking a lot of water.
And what are the consequences of it remaining so low?
Thank you!

Hi ToucheBaby,
Your BP is
definitely on the low side, if it was measured correctly. The top
number shouldn‘t be under 90. Now if you had no symptoms, this may be
ok. However if you are experiencing lightheadedness, nausea,
dizziness, it could indicate an underlying problem.
There are many
causes of low BP and thyroid disorders can certainly alter the blood
pressure, and so can other meds. Some other causes could be
dehydration, infection, heart problems, or low blood sugar.
Report your symptoms to a doctor and be sure to notice
when they occur, for example: Do you feel lightheaded when you get out
of bed in the morning or go from a lying down or sitting position to a
standing position? Or do you feel dizzy after you eat? Also note if
you are experiencing any other things like palpitations or chest pain.
The treatment depends on the cause.
To bring your BP
back up you should stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet with lots of
fiber and small more frequent meals throughout the day. Also go slow
when rising from bed or standing up from a seated position.
I hope this helps and you see your doctor to find the cause and get proper treatment. Dr. WomanSaver

Thank you!
My blood pressure usually runs on the low end. Just not that low.
At first we thought I was just coming down with a touch of the flu.
However,I didnt have the classic signs. It is mainly dizziness and faintness. Severe loss of energy. Fatigue. My coffe cup is heavy. Getting up is a chore. Loss of vision. Its like it came out of nowhere.
I confess...Ive been known to skip a few meals. :) Thats normal...feeling like this is not.
The past few days I have eaten much better and drank plenty of fluids. I take multi vitamins and plan on adding iron tablets.
I feel better but still not a 100%.
I think a trip to the doctor is in order. :)
Once again...thank you!
