Hello Dr.,
OK. I‘m 18 years old. I go to my parent‘s doctor and I am worried about
what my mom would find out if I went to a doctor BUT, about three or
four months ago my boyfriend and I had an accident... the condom came
off, so the next day I took the "Plan B" pill, the next month, believe
it or not, the same thing happened, AGAIN, so I took the Plan B pill
again(I‘d never had to take it before this, I swear :) ) after the
first month my period was a week or so late, which, according to the
Plan B disclaimer, is normal... but, after the second time, my period
was late again, no surprise... that‘s not even my concern, though...
ever since then I‘ve had this absolutely disgusting
discharge. I thought it was just because of the pill so I figured it
would just go away on its own, but its been at least two months now. It
looks like diluted blood almost, not as thick as menstruation, but
about the same color, it has a really bad odor, much
worse than menstruation. It happens more during sex, or when I stand
after sitting for a while, sometimes it seems completely random. I have
no clue what it is and I really don‘t have the option of going to a
doctor, I don‘t think my mom would take me. PLEASE, if you have any
clue as to what it could be or what I could do to stop it... your help
would be appreciated SOOOOO much
THANK YOU!

Hi Confused, As
you probably guessed, it is not normal to be bleeding for two months.
I could make an educated guess as to what your bleeding is due to, but
I couldn‘t tell you what to do to stop it by yourself. For example you
may have an infection which needs to be treated with antibiotics, or
something else which also needs medical treatment.
The Plan B pill can mess up your menstrual cycle, but you
shouldn‘t be having CONTINUOUS bleeding for such a PROLONGED amount of
time with an odor.
I strongly suggest you seek medical
attention. If you start to soak more than one pad per hour, get
yourself to the nearest ER as soon as possible.
If it‘s not an emergency, you have a few options: 1. Go
to your family doctor. You are an adult at 18, and your doctor doesn‘t
need parental consent to treat you. Your doctor is legally and
ethically obliged to keep everything confidential. He/she cannot
discuss ANYTHING about your medical condition or treatment with ANYONE
unless you specifically give permission to do so.
2. Go to the same place where you got the Plan B pill. Tell
them about the bleeding you have been having. If you felt comfortable
going there previously, try contacting them to make an appointment.
3. Go to your local ER or Clinic.
4. If you need to find a gynecologist in your area check this site:

I hope this helps, and I hope you get yourself to a medical facility where you can be checked and treated.
